About Mask-Cal Tablet

Mask-Cal Tablet belongs to the group of medicines called nutritional supplements used to treat nutritional deficiencies such as calcium and vitamin D deficiency. A nutritional deficiency occurs when the body does not absorb/get enough nutrients from food. Nutrients are necessary for body development and the prevention of diseases.
 
Mask-Cal Tablet is a combination of three supplements: Calcium citrate, cholecalciferol, and Folic acid. Calcium makes bones stronger by increasing their density. It helps in treating and preventing low calcium levels. Cholecalciferol helps in the absorption of calcium. Folic acid helps in producing and maintaining new blood cells. Together, Mask-Cal Tablet helps in treating nutritional deficiencies.
 
You are advised to take Mask-Cal Tablet for as long as your doctor has recommended it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as stomach pain, constipation, muscle weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Avoid taking Mask-Cal Tablet if you have hypercalcaemia (high level of calcium in the blood), hypercalciuria (excess calcium in the urine), nephrocalcinosis (excess calcium deposition in the kidneys), nephrolithiasis (kidney stones), hypervitaminosis D (excess vitamin D), severe renal impairment or renal failure. Inform your doctor if you have sarcoidosis (growth of tiny inflammatory cells). Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Mask-Cal Tablet should be given to children only if advised by the doctor. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Mask-Cal Tablet . Drug-Drug Interactions: Mask-Cal Tablet may interact with anti-epileptic (phenytoin, phenobarbital), thiazide diuretics, corticosteroids, tetracycline/quinolone antibiotics, chelating agent (penicillamine), anti-TB (isoniazid), cardiac glycoside, bisphosphonate, inorganic compound (sodium fluoride), supplements (iron, zinc, strontium ranelate), hormone (levothyroxine), enzyme (glucarpidase), folic acid antagonist (methotrexate, pyrimethamine, triamterene, trimethoprim), and oral contraceptives.

Mask-Cal Tablet can be taken with iron or zinc supplements if advised by the doctor. Calcium might decrease the absorption of iron, zinc or strontium ranelate. Therefore, maintain a gap of 2 hours between Mask-Cal Tablet and iron, zinc or strontium ranelate.
Mask-Cal Tablet may cause constipation. Eat fibre-rich food and drink plenty of fluids if you experience constipation. Consult your doctor if you have severe constipation.
Avoid consuming foods containing oxalic acid and phytic acid, such as spinach, rhubarb, and whole cereals, as they might inhibit the absorption of calcium. Maintain a gap of two hours between Mask-Cal Tablet and foods containing oxalic acid or phytic acid.
Mask-Cal Tablet can be taken with levothyroxine if advised by the doctor. However, maintain a gap of 4 hours between Mask-Cal Tablet and levothyroxine.
