Lycefenac Gel is used to relieve acute musculoskeletal pain and osteoarthritis. It effectively reduces pain, swelling, and joint stiffness, thereby improving your ability to move and flex the joint. Osteoarthritis is a long-term musculoskeletal joint disorder that causes damage to the cartilage and surrounding tissues characterized by pain, swelling, stiffness, and loss of function.
Lycefenac Gel contains diclofenac, linseed oil, methyl salicylate, and menthol. Diclofenac and methyl salicylate work by lowering hormones in the body that cause inflammation and pain. Linseed oil inhibits inflammatory mediators like leukotrienes, thereby reducing inflammation. Menthol is a soothing and cooling agent which provides a cooling sensation by dilating the blood vessels. Together, Lycefenac Gel helps relieve mild to moderate pain in musculoskeletal and joint conditions.
Lycefenac Gel is only for external use. Use Lycefenac Gel for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may sometimes experience common side effects such as itching, irritation, redness, and burning sensation at the application site. Most of these side effects do not necessitate medical attention and will subside gradually over time. However, you should consult your doctor if you are experiencing these side effects regularly.
Please do not use Lycefenac Gel without a doctor's advice if you have a skin reaction or irritation to any medicine. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use Lycefenac Gel in more than prescribed doses or for a longer duration as it may cause adverse effects. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and all the medicines to rule out any side effects. Do not take any other NSAIDs for pain relief along with Lycefenac Gel unless prescribed. Lycefenac Gel is not recommended for children below 14 years as safety and efficacy have not been established.
Lycefenac Gel is a combination of four drugs: Diclofenac, Linseed Oil, Methyl Salicylate, and Menthol. Diclofenac and Methyl Salicylate are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which work by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation. Linseed oil possesses an anti-inflammatory action that inhibits inflammatory mediators like leukotrienes, thereby reducing inflammation. Menthol is a soothing and cooling agent which provides a cooling sensation by dilating the blood vessels, followed by an analgesic effect. It also enhances the penetration of drugs. Together, Lycefenac Gel helps relieve mild to moderate pain in musculoskeletal and joint conditions.
Do not take Lycefenac Gel if you are allergic to any of its contents. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and all the medicines you take to rule out any side effects. Do not use Lycefenac Gel if you experience asthma, urticaria or allergy after taking a pain killer. Do not take any other pain killers for pain relief along with Lycefenac Gel unless prescribed. Consult your doctor before starting Lycefenac Gel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Lycefenac Gel is not recommended for children below 14years as the safety and effectiveness have not been established.
