Kenz Sal Lotion belongs to a class of medicine known as an antifungal. Kenz Sal Lotion is primarily used to treat dandruff and control seborrheic dermatitis (scaly patches and red skin on the scalp). Dandruff is a flaky, itchy scalp without signs of inflammation. It is unnecessary shedding of dead skin from the scalp.
Kenz Sal Lotion is composed of two medicines: Ketoconazole (antifungal) and salicylic acid (keratolytic agent). Ketoconazole is an antifungal agent that works by preventing the growth of dandruff-causing fungi by preventing them from forming their own protective covering. Salicylic acid belongs to a class of drugs known as keratoplastic, which works by removing dead cells from the skin’s top layer and slowing down skin cell's growth. This effect decreases scaling and dryness, thus relieving itching and cracking related to dandruff.
Take Kenz Sal Lotion as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Kenz Sal Lotion as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical conditions. You may experience warmth or a burning sensation, skin irritation, itching, and redness at the application site. Most of these side effects of Kenz Sal Lotion do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Let your doctor know if you have any allergic reactions to Kenz Sal Lotion or other medications. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Kenz Sal Lotion. Kenz Sal Lotion is not recommended for children below 12 years as the safety and efficacy of Kenz Sal Lotion have not been established.
