About Flonida 5% Cream

Flonida 5% Cream is an anti-cancer medicine used to treat skin conditions such as keratosis (growths of skin), some simple skin cancers, keratoacanthoma (a firm nodule on the skin), and Bowen’s disease. It may also be useful in the treatment of superficial basal cell carcinoma.

Flonida 5% Cream contains ‘Fluorouracil’, which works by destroying cancerous and pre-cancerous cells whilst having little effect on the normal cells.

Depending on your medical condition, you should use Flonida 5% Cream for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. In some cases, Flonida 5% Cream may cause side effects such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and taste disturbance. Do not be reluctant to talk with your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen.

Avoid using Flonida 5% Cream if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or breastfeeding. Flonida 5% Cream is not recommended for children under 18 years. Do not cover the treated skin with dressings. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medications to rule out any side effects/interactions.

Flonida 5% Cream belongs to the group of anti-cancer medicines used to treat skin conditions, such as some simple skin cancers, keratoacanthoma (a firm nodule on the skin), and Bowen’s disease. It is also indicated in the treatment of multiple actinic or solar keratoses of the face and anterior scalp. It may also be useful in the treatment of superficial basal cell carcinoma. Flonida 5% Cream contains ‘Fluorouracil’, which works by destroying cancerous and pre-cancerous cells whilst having little effect on the normal cells.

Directions for Use

Use Flonida 5% Cream exactly as instructed by the doctor. Apply a thin layer of the cream onto the affected area as advised by the doctor.

Drug Warnings

Do not use Flonida 5% Cream if you are allergic to any of its components, if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or if you are breastfeeding. Inform your doctor if you have reduced or no activity of the DPD (dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase) enzyme or if you are using medicines to treat chickenpox or shingles (brivudine, sorivudine) or have used them in the last four weeks. Avoid contact with Flonida 5% Cream by eyes or mouth. Take special care while applying Flonida 5% Cream around the eyelids, nose, or lips. Do not use the cream on open cuts as it can lead to too much absorption of cream into the bloodstream, leading to harmful effects. Avoid smoking or going near naked flames as the fabric (clothing, bedding, or dressing) that has been in contact with Flonida 5% Cream burns easily and is a serious fire hazard. Washing the fabric may not totally remove it, but it might reduce product build-up.

  • Exposure to UV radiation, such as natural sunlight and tanning beds, should be avoided.
  • Avoid covering the skin with dressings or bandages as it may increase inflammatory reactions of the skin.
  • Females of childbearing potential must use an effective contraceptive during treatment with Flonida 5% Cream and for seven months after treatment.
  • Male patients must use effective contraception during treatment with Flonida 5% Cream and for four months after treatment.

Superficial basal cell carcinoma: It is a type of skin cancer that develops in the areas of the skin exposed to the sun, such as the face.
