About Epricof Cough Syrup

Epricof Cough Syrup is used to provide relief from cough. Additionally, Epricof Cough Syrup may also help in providing relief from allergies and nasal congestion due to colds. Coughing (dry or productive) is the body's way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus or smoke) from airways, thereby preventing respiratory infection.

Epricof Cough Syrup combines three drugs: Diphenhydramine, Ammonium chloride, and Sodium citrate. Diphenhydramine works by blocking the action of a chemical substance called histamine, which is responsible for causing allergic reactions. Ammonium chloride helps remove phlegm/mucus from the airways by decreasing its stickiness. Sodium citrate helps reduce congestion, making it easier to cough out through the mouth. Together, Epricof Cough Syrup provides relief from cough.

Take Epricof Cough Syrup as prescribed. Depending on your medical condition, you are advised to take Epricof Cough Syrup for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you. Sometimes, you may experience certain common side effects such as headache, stomach upset, dizziness, tiredness, and dry mouth. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Consult your doctor before taking Epricof Cough Syrup if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Epricof Cough Syrup may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Epricof Cough Syrup should be given to children only if prescribed by the doctor. Avoid consuming alcohol with Epricof Cough Syrup as it could lead to increased dizziness. Inform your doctor about all the prescription, non-prescription and herbal medicines you take to rule out any side effects/interactions.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Allergy: Allergy is an immune system response to foreign elements typically not harmful to your body. These foreign elements are known as ‘allergens.’ Allergic condition varies from person to person. Some might be allergic to certain foods and seasonal allergies like hay fever. At the same time, others might be allergic to pollen or pet dander. One of the symptoms of allergy is cough.

Cough: Coughing is the body's way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus or smoke) from airways and preventing infection. Cough can be dry or productive. A productive cough (wet cough) develops sputum (phlegm or mucus) from the lungs. Cough is commonly caused as a response to allergy or viral infection, but coughing up mucus is possibly an indication of infection in the respiratory tract. If you are coughing out thick, solid white mucus, it indicates that you may have a bacterial infection in the airways. Clear or light-coloured mucus indicates allergies or minor infections in the respiratory tract, and yellow or green mucus indicates a respiratory infection.
