Cofal-LS Paed Drop 15 ml

Cofal-LS Paed Drop is a combination of respiratory medications used to treat coughs associated with mucus. Coughing (dry or productive) is the body's way of clearing irritants (like allergens, mucus or smoke) from airways and preventing infection. There are two types of coughs, namely, dry cough and chesty cough. A dry cough is tickly and doesn't produce any vicious or thick mucus, while a chesty cough (wet cough) means mucous or sputum is produced to help clear your airways. 

Cofal-LS Paed Drop consists of three medicines: Ambroxol, Guaifenesin and Salbutamol. Ambroxol is an 'expectorant' that promotes the secretion of sputum/cough and a 'mucolytic agent' that makes sputum less viscous to make breathing easier. On the other hand, Salbutamol belongs to the class of drugs known as 'bronchodilators' that widen and relax the airways (bronchi) of the lungs. Guaifenesin is also an 'expectorant'. It works by reducing the thickness or viscosity of bronchial secretions (phlegm) and increasing mucus flow, making it easier to cough. 

Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the course based on the severity of your disease. Like every other medication, Cofal-LS Paed Drop also has common side effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, upset stomach, dizziness, headache, skin rash, tremor (shakiness), palpitations (uneven heartbeat), muscle cramps, and increased heart rate. These side effects, if occurred, generally go away during the treatment. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Let your doctor know if you have any allergic reactions to Cofal-LS Paed Drop or any other medication. It is mandatory to inform your doctor if you have heart, liver, kidney diseases, stomach ulcers, seizure (fits), high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, diabetes, inflammation of air passages, lung disorders, and difficulty breathing before taking Cofal-LS Paed Drop. Check with your doctor if you plan to conceive, are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol while taking Cofal-LS Paed Drop since it can worsen dizziness and sleepiness.

Cofal-LS Paed Drop should be used with caution in patients heart, liver, kidney diseases, stomach ulcers, high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, inflammation of air passages, lung disorders, diabetes, seizures/fits, difficulty breathing, and hypokalemia (low potassium levels in the blood). Pregnant and breastfeeding women should use Cofal-LS Paed Drop with proper consultation and caution. Avoid consuming alcohol with Cofal-LS Paed Drop as it could lead to increased drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive if you feel sleepy or have an increased heart rate or shakiness after taking Cofal-LS Paed Drop. Cofal-LS Paed Drop is not recommended in children below two years of age.

• Take the medication as directed by the doctor and at regular intervals. Do not use other over the counter medications, herbal or vitamin supplements without informing your pharmacist or doctor when you take Cofal-LS Paed Drop.

• Know your triggers like allergens, such as pollen, dust, and food items that make your asthma and other respiratory diseases severe.

• Quit smoking and avoid passive smoking. Smoking also reduces the effectiveness of the medicine.

• Drink warm fluids while you take Cofal-LS Paed Drop to help loosen congestion and lubricate the throat.

• Eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly to strengthen your breathing muscles and boost your immune system.

• Learning breathing exercises will help you move more air in and out of your lungs.
