Busag 5mg Injection belongs to a group of medicines called gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues indicated in women for the treatment of infertility and endometriosis. This medicine is also indicated in the treatment of prostate cancer (cancer of the prostate gland) in men who have not had testicles removed by surgery.

Busag 5mg Injection contains Buserelin, a synthetic version of the hormone that naturally occurs in the body. It works by stopping the production of natural hormones that control ovulation. It helps relieve symptoms of endometriosis by reducing the production of female sex hormones by acting on the pituitary gland. This medicine helps treat prostate cancer by reducing the production of testosterone and helps to stop the growth of cancer cells.

In some cases, Busag 5mg Injection may cause side effects like diarrhoea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and headache. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to the doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Avoid using Busag 5mg Injection if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have abnormal menstrual bleeding. Consult your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while on treatment with Busag 5mg Injection. Do not father a child during treatment with Busag 5mg Injection and for a few months afterwards, as it might harm the developing baby in the womb. Inform your doctor about your health condition and medications to rule out any side effects/interactions.

Other hormonal treatments are then used to stimulate ovulation artificially. Female hormones such as oestrogen may worsen problems like endometriosis. It helps relieve symptoms of endometriosis by reducing the production of female sex hormones by acting on the pituitary gland. In men, it prevents the pituitary gland from releasing luteinising hormone. This prevents the testicles from producing testosterone, which is required by the prostate gland to grow. By reducing testosterone, it shrinks and prevents the growth of prostate cancer.

Do not use Busag 5mg Injection if you are allergic to any of its components, if you have abnormal menstrual bleeding, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you have had an operation to remove testicles. Stop using Busag 5mg Injection and consult the doctor immediately if you become pregnant while on treatment with Busag 5mg Injection. Inform the doctor if you have depression, high blood pressure, diabetes, polycystic ovarian disease, heart/blood vessel conditions, heart rhythm problems, metabolic bone disease or risk factors for osteoporosis like smoking, chronic alcohol abuse, a family history of osteoporosis, or if you are on long-term treatment with corticosteroids or anticonvulsants. Stop using Busag 5mg Injection and consult a doctor immediately if you experience symptoms of serious side effect called ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, such as diarrhoea, weight gain, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, passing less urine, feeling sick or being sick, pain, swelling or a feeling of tension in your stomach. Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome is more likely to occur if you are taking other hormones along with Busag 5mg Injection as a part of infertility treatment. Consult the doctor straight away if you notice bruising more easily than usual, signs of infections (fever, sore throat or mouth ulcers), severe headache, eyesight problems, or high blood pressure (crushing chest pain, problems with eyesight, confusion, tiredness and an uneven heartbeat).

Drug-Drug Interactions: Inform the doctor if you are taking medicines for heart rhythm problems (quinidine, procainamide, amiodarone, sotalol), pain killers (methadone), antibiotics (moxifloxacin), anti-diabetics, and antipsychotics.

Drug-Food Interactions: No interactions found. 

Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform the doctor if you have depression, high blood pressure, diabetes, polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD), heart rhythm problems, or metabolic bone disease.

• Include fibrous foods, iron-rich foods, foods rich in essential fatty acids, and anti-oxidant-rich foods in the diet.
• Practice meditation and yoga. 
• Avoid or limit caffeine intake.
• Include healthy fruits and vegetables in your diet.
• Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.
• Try relaxation therapy. Read a book or listen to soothing music.
• Exercise moderately.
• Do yoga or meditation, as it helps relieve stress.

• The use of this medicine may lead to positive results in doping tests. Additionally, misuse as a doping agent may harm your health.
• Busag 5mg Injection might affect certain blood test results; particularly, it may affect the levels of liver enzymes and fats in the blood shown in blood tests. Therefore, if you are undergoing any tests, inform the doctor that you are on treatment with Busag 5mg Injection.
• Regular monitoring of blood pressure and blood glucose levels is advised.
• Women are recommended to have a pregnancy test to make sure they are not pregnant before using Busag 5mg Injection.
• Do not father a child during treatment with Busag 5mg Injection and for a few months afterwards, as it might harm the developing baby in the womb. Discuss with your doctor regarding effective contraception.
• The doctor may advise regular blood tests before and during the treatment to check the levels of testosterone, blood levels, and liver/kidney functioning.

Endometriosis: Endometriosis is a painful disorder in which the tissue that generally lines the endometrium (inside the uterus) grows outside the uterus. Endometriosis usually occurs when the endometrial tissue grows on the ovaries, pelvis lining, and fallopian tubes. Symptoms include pelvic pain, painful periods, pain in the abdomen during and before menstruation, heavy menstrual bleeding, discomfort during bowel movements, lower back pain during menstruation, pain during sexual intercourse, and cramps 1-2 weeks around menstruation.

Infertility: It is a condition in which a woman cannot become pregnant even after having carefully timed, unprotected sex for a year. Age, hormonal problems, physical problems, lifestyle or environmental factors could be the causes of infertility.

Prostate cancer: Prostate cancer, also called prostatic carcinoma, is cancer in the prostate gland (a gland that produces seminal fluid). Symptoms include difficulty with urination, weak or interrupted flow of urine, trouble emptying the bladder completely, and pain or burning sensation during urination.
