About Bal Inj (Dimercaprol)

Bal Inj (Dimercaprol) belongs to the group of medicines called chelating agents. It is mainly used to treat arsenic, gold and mercury poisoning. It is also indicated in the treatment of acute lead poisoning in combination with edetate disodium (EDTA).

Bal Inj (Dimercaprol) contains Dimercaprol, which works by forming a stable five-membered ring between its sulfhydryl groups and certain heavy metals, thereby neutralising its toxicity and promoting its elimination.

Bal Inj (Dimercaprol) may cause certain side effects such as weakness, headache, fever, and injection site reactions. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. Do not be reluctant to talk with your doctor if any of the side effects persist or worsen.

Let the doctor know if you are allergic to any components in Bal Inj (Dimercaprol). Consult the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform the doctor about your health condition and medications to rule out any side effects.
