About Amirid Tablet

Amirid Tablet is a combination medicine used to treat diarrhoea. Diarrhoea is a condition in which there is a frequent need to empty the bowels. It is characterised by loose and watery stools. Amirid Tablet helps treat asymptomatic intestinal amoebiases such as loose stools, abdominal cramping, and stomach pain. Amirid Tablet also helps to treat amoebic infections and also provides relief from painful pressure caused by excess gas in the stomach and intestines.

Amirid Tablet contains Ornidazole (antiprotozoal), Diloxanide (amoebicide), and Simethicone (anti-foaming agent). Ornidazole kills bacteria by damaging their DNA. Diloxanide kills the infection-causing micro-organisms by acting on the intestine. Simethicone works by lowering the surface tension of gas bubbles, thereby facilitating gas expulsion through flatus or belching (burping). It also prevents the accumulation and formation of gas in the digestive tract. Together, Amirid Tablet helps in treating diarrhoea.

You are advised to take Amirid Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headache, and flatulence. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Amirid Tablet should be given to children only if prescribed by a doctor. Amirid Tablet may cause dizziness and sleepiness, so drive with caution. Avoid consuming alcohol with Amirid Tablet as it could lead to increased dizziness. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side effects.
