Alfumet Syrup belongs to a class of medicines known as antibiotics. This is used to treat various infections caused by bacteria, dysentery and diarrhea. Some people may experience nausea, dryness in the mouth, headache, metallic taste, and dark yellow to brown discoloration of urine. Most of these side effects of Alfumet Syrup do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Alfumet Syrup should not be taken if you are allergic to Alfumet Syrup or any other contents present in it. It is not advisable to stop taking Alfumet Syrup suddenly to avoid unpleasant side effects. The full course prescribed by the doctor should be completed. Alfumet Syrup should not be taken in the conditions like a history of liver and kidney disease. It is advisable to you do not drive while using Alfumet Syrup as Alfumet Syrup may cause blurred vision or dizziness that may affect the ability to drive or using machines. If you are allergic to furazolidone, metronidazole or any other antibacterial or anti amoebic agents, please inform your doctor to avoid any unwanted side-effects. Alfumet Syrup should not be taken in the conditions like liver disease, kidney disease. Before taking Alfumet Syrup inform your doctor if you have fits disorder, numbness or pain of feet or hands. Alfumet Syrup may low white blood cell count (leukopenia). Alfumet Syrup may cause convulsions (rapid contraction and relaxation of body muscles), if you observe these symptoms immediately contact your doctor. Discontinue the Alfumet Syrup if any signs of low blood count observed. Immediately inform your doctor if you experience swelling of the face, tongue, throat, itchy rash or breathing difficulties while taking this Alfumet Syrup. Alfumet Syrup is safely given to children above one month year of age. It is advisable to you do not drive while using Alfumet Syrup as Alfumet Syrup may cause blurred vision or dizziness that may affect the ability to drive or use machines. • Do not drink or eat a lot of caffeine-containing products such as coffee, tea, energy drinks, cola or chocolate. Alfumet Syrup may increase nervousness, sleeplessness and anxiety caused by caffeine.
• Probiotics should be taken after taking the full course of Alfumet Syrup in order to restore some healthy bacteria in the intestines that may have been killed. Taking probiotics after antibiotic treatment can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Certain fermented foods like yogurt, cheese, sauerkraut, kombucha and kimchi can help restore the intestine's good bacteria. 
• Include more fiber-enriched food in your diet, as it can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. Thus, fiber-rich foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after a course of antibiotics. Whole grains like whole-grain bread, brown rice should be included in your diet. Make sure you drink plenty of water or other fluids every day while you are taking Alfumet Syrup.
• Avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with Alfumet Syrup as it can make you dehydrated and may affect your sleep. This can make it harder for your body to aid the Alfumet Syrup in fighting off infections.
