Hello Sir, my friend has been suffering since this morning from throat pain, runny nose, cough, and blocked nose. Last night the weather was very cold, and today there was a lot of dust in our room while cleaning, after which these symptoms started. Could you please suggest the possible cause, appropriate medicines or home remedies, and precautions to help relieve these symptoms?

Hello. Your friend's symptoms are likely due to allergic rhinitis (dust allergy) or a mild viral cold. For relief, they can take an over-the-counter antihistamine like Cetirizine for the runny and blocked nose. For throat pain, use medicated lozenges and do warm salt-water gargles twice daily. Steam inhalation will help clear the nasal congestion. As precautions, avoid cold drinks, stay hydrated with warm fluids, and always wear a mask while cleaning to prevent dust exposure. If symptoms persist beyond a few days or fever develops, please consult a doctor.
I am having fever, runny nose, and excessive cough. Please suggest the possible cause and suitable treatment options.

Fever, runny nose, and excessive cough are most commonly caused by viral infections such as the common cold, flu, or other upper respiratory infections. In some cases, allergies, sinus infection, throat infection, or chest infection may also produce similar symptoms. Most mild viral infections improve gradually within several days with proper rest and supportive care. Drinking plenty of warm fluids, taking steam inhalation, doing warm salt-water gargles, and getting adequate sleep can help reduce throat irritation, loosen mucus, and improve congestion. Warm soups, herbal tea, and honey with warm water may also soothe a cough in adults and older children. Paracetamol may help reduce fever, body pain, and headache when taken in the recommended dose. Some cough and cold medicines may provide temporary symptom relief, but antibiotics should not be taken without medical advice because many viral infections do not require them. Avoid smoking, cold drinks, dust exposure, and self-medicating with multiple cough syrups or antibiotics unnecessarily. You should consult a doctor if the fever becomes high, the cough lasts more than 1-2 weeks, breathing becomes difficult, wheezing develops, chest pain occurs, mucus becomes thick or blood-stained, or if there is severe weakness or dehydration. A proper examination may be needed to rule out chest infection, allergy, asthma, or sinus-related problems if symptoms are severe or persistent. With timely care and adequate rest, most people recover well without complications.
